Wood Protection Association
2020 Awards & Conference event
Venue: Forest of Arden Marriot Hotel
Date: 1st & 2nd April 2020
Now in their 6th year, the WPA Awards showcase wood protection technology as a relevant and crucial part of the timber industry. They recognise and celebrate excellence in areas that are vital to business success.
The highly anticipated 2020 WPA Awards and conference is being held once more at the Forest of Arden and is kicked off in the morning by an optional competitive game of 'Texas Scramble' golf, kindly sponsored by Bond Timber.
In the evening the WPA 2020 awards are presented. The event includes a 3 course meal with after dinner entertainment from comedian/magician Richard Pinner.
The Awards event is kindly sponsored by Impra, Koppers, Lonza Wood Protection and Wolman BASF.
The 2020 Award categories are:
Wood Protection Project of the Year - sponsored by Wolman BASF
This Award recognises the important role that wood protection technology plays in enhancing the durability or fire performance of wood used in a construction, engineering or landscaping application. Projects of any size in the UK or further afield must demonstrate how factory applied pre-treatments allow designers to confidently select wood as a sustainable, low environmental impact, material of choice.
Entry is open to any organisation (WPA Member or non-member) that has supplied preservative pre-treated, flame retardant treated or modified wood products/panels for a project completed in the last 12 months or currently under construction.
Quality Excellence - sponsored by Lonza
This Award is aimed at businesses producing wood or wood-based materials in accordance with the requirements and standards of the WPA Benchmark quality assurance scheme for preservative or flame retardant treatments. The winner will demonstrate a higher than average level of quality, above and beyond the remits of the schemes.
Nominations for this Award are made exclusively by WPA Benchmark quality scheme auditors.
Innovation - sponsored by Accsys
This Award celebrates new ideas, new products and more effective ways of doing things that add value to the customer experience. Examples include the adoption of new business models; improving services or developing improved products that better meet customer needs. Such innovations that help a business adapt to changing standards of performance, regulatory requirements or marketplace opportunities.
This category is only open to members of the WPA.
Treated Wood Trader of the Year - sponsored by Impra
This Award appreciates customer service best practice. Applicants should focus on what differentiates their business from other suppliers and how this helps them build and retain customer loyalty as a key part of their business success. Customer testimonials can be taken into account during the judging process.
Entry is open to any business (WPA Member or Non-Member) that produces, distributes or markets products made from modified wood, preservative or flame-retardant pre-treated wood or wood based panel products.
Outstanding Contribution - sponsored by WPA
This Award puts a spotlight on the unsung heroes of the wood protection industry. The people who go above and beyond for the success of a business and the satisfaction of its customers. A typical nominee could be involved in treatment plant operation, technical support, sales, marketing or customer services. Whatever their role they are recognised by their employer, co-workers and customers as making an outstanding contribution.
This category is only open to employees of WPA member businesses and their customers.
